Bronze Eagle

Hot Cast Bronze
18cm diameter

This was my first adventure into real bronze casting (as opposed to cold cast or resin casting.) it is so much more rewarding, especially its coldness and sheer weight when finishing it. I modelled the Master pattern in hard sculptors wax and took a plaster mould. Into this I pressed air drying modelling clay and when hardened made a sand and mineral oil mould. I took it to my friendly local bronze foundry who poured it for me and cut off the runners and risers. I then wire brushed and sanded it for an eternity until I was happy with the contrast between the shiny bits and the rough bits. I eventually mounted it onto the lid of an Oak cigar box
