I carved the original flintlock in a piece of oak and made a separate single pattern for the flintlock mechanism and one for the trigger insert. Then took silicone rubber moulds of the three parts. Then resin castings were taken and then hand finished with wood stains and gold and silver picture framing wax.
Lastly given a light coat of matt polyurethane lacquer and waxed.
The pair in this image were made as UK Beer Tap Handles and had threaded brass fittings incorporated into the muzzles. Mounted on oak boards for wall display
