This piece is hand cast and finished by me in polyester resin. It is a limited edition of 50 pieces and will be made to order.
The process involved taking a real orange and initially making a silicone rubber mould of it.
A casting was made in resin from this and the outer surface engraved away. This engraved void was carefully filled with laser cut cogs and wires to replicate an imaginary mechanism. I then took another silicone rubber mould of this altered pattern and castings are taken from this which all now have the mechanical details. The casting is then hand stained in orange and a combination of colours are used to replicate the clockwork workings. With a felt patch added to the base and a coat of matt lacquer the Orange will act as a conversation starting desk paperweight or ornament. Please note that the mechanism is static and does not function.
